Klay Thompson has had a great time this offseason, and he deserves the fun of the world, probably more than anyone else. The Warriors guard had gone through very difficult times after suffering two serious injuries, which kept him out of action for more than two years.
He finally made his return to the pitch last season and even though he wasn’t quite at his best, as you can imagine for someone who missed that much time, he was still a solid contributor as the Warriors won their 4th championship in the last 8 seasons. He celebrated triumph in the Bahamas earlier this offseason and is enjoying himself now too.
Klay Thompson danced on a boat then dove into the ocean
He was on the ocean with ex-warriors Nemanja Bjelica and Leandro Barbosa, as all three were clearly having a good time. Klay performed an epic dance on their boat, then plunged into the ocean.
Klay has previously said he loves the ocean and that was clearly not an exaggeration. He also captioned the clip saying he will miss Bjelica, who signed with Fenerbahce, and Barbosa, who ended his 2-year stint with the team as a coach by heading to the Kings .
Golden State has seen a few departures from its title-winning squad last season, with Gary Payton II also departing in free agency. Most title-winning teams tend to lose rotational pieces, but the important thing for the Warriors is that all of their big guns are still there. The question, however, is for how long?
Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole are eligible for extensions this offseason while Draymond Green would like a maximum extension when he is also eligible for it. The Warriors will have to part ways with someone because even they can’t afford to keep everyone on the roster.
It will be interesting to see who ends up being the odd one out and while it’s speculated that one of those three will leave, an NBA executive has suggested that Klay is the one they should let go. He wasn’t as important to their success last season as the other three and he’s also getting old. We don’t see the Warriors parting ways with Klay, and with them having given him this massive post-injury extension, he may well return the favor by taking a pay cut so he can finish his career at Golden State.
