Is David Culley coming back? Is Deshaun Watson traded? – Athleticism

The Texans’ miserable season ended in a 28-25 loss to the Titans, and now comes the exciting part. A 4-13 record and a weaker schedule than the Jets or Giants gives Houston the third overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Now GM Nick Caserio’s rebuilding can begin in earnest, with a potential Deshaun Watson trade still looming.

No matter what happens with Watson, the coming months will be busy for Caserio and his team, as they hand over much of the roster for a second year in a row and identify next season’s starting quarterback.

Here are five big questions that will define this Texas offseason:

What changes are taking place in the coaching staff?

Amid speculation about his future, head coach David Culley said after the game he had yet to hear if he would be back next season.

“Right now I feel like I’ll be coaching the team next year,” Culley said.

Culley doesn’t call games and is a poor game manager, but the Texans also matched Las Vegas’ expected winning streak, in part thanks to the upheavals against the Titans and Chargers. Culley deserves credit for rallying his three-point side twice in the second half on Sunday, although the Titans need a win to secure the AFC’s No.1 seed and the Texans have nothing to play. It was only the Texans’ fourth game this season, all of which ended in losses.
