A Huddersfield father well known for his TV appearances has spoken of his baldness and his decision to pay for a “head full of hair”.

Ben Carpenter, a father of five, started to go bald at the age of 19 and says it affected his confidence.

Ben, who is well known for his support of foster families and has been dubbed “super dad”, says attitudes towards “cosmetic” enhancements – from Botox to hair extensions – have changed so he decided to work on it. to improve her hair.

The exact cost has not been revealed, but it is believed to be just under £ 1,000.

It is not called a “wig” or “hairpiece” as those words are considered old-fashioned, but it is a “hair system” and is made of real hair that is glued (glued) to the scalp.

Recipients can shower, exercise and swim while wearing the new hair, but every few weeks they need a ‘maintenance’ at a cost of £ 60.

Ben said he was not at all “conceited” but wanted him to regain his confidence after years of hair loss.

He’s so elated that he’s allowed The Designer Hair Company, based in Wakefield, to share photos of his transformation on the company’s Facebook page.

The company says Ben’s “transformation” has been “truly exceptional.”

Company boss Lauraine Brennan said she has seen an influx of new customers since the lockdown, although it is not clear why.

And she says words like “wig” and “hairpiece” are no longer used. She prefers the term “capillary system”.

These “hair systems” are custom made and are installed after scalp measurements are taken.

Ben’s friends and family say he now looks “brilliant,” although his children were “shocked” at first, he says.
